Cloud servers are the tiny parts of the whole computing system. Compatible with Linux or Windows OS.

There are three cloud computing service models: IaaS, PaaS and SaaS. IaaS stands for Infrastructure as a service, PaaS stands for Platform as a service and SaaS for Software as a service.

Rackspace service

Rackspace Cloud Servers are built for your application’s availability. It is an absolute and complete public cloud platform to support your websites. There are two main service parts: intensive and managed, both of them try to meet and correspond different businesses.

Elastic Beanstalk is a service from Amazon Web Services. It is simple and quickly. Allows to have a control over your apps.

What you need to do? Just install the app and let Elastic Beanstalk will manage and monitoring essential issues of your app. When you use Elastic Beanstalk, you can reach the basic assets any time needed.

Heroku is one of the first platforms that supports certain programming languages. Once before it was supported only by Ruby programming language, but later it gained support for Java Python, PHP and Perl. Its basic operating system is Debian.

Google App Engine is a platform for development and hosting. Using this platform you can run your apps in data centers of Google infrastructure. Google Apps provides a number of tools for business that can suit different kinds of companies. Using Google Apps you can assure your users to receive an access to other services of Google infrastructure. It is very convenient, but no longer free app. Since 2012 it became chargeable.

Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2)

Amazon has a huge number of services that makes your work easier. Elastic compute cloud is one of the famous services by Amazon. It is a service that provides computing power in the cloud. Its size can vary.

It was designed to ease the developers’ work. It lets you to receive power with minimal effort applied and implement apps faster.

Eventually, you have total control over your apps.

Windows Azure - is an open platform of cloud services managed by Microsoft that allows you to store apps in cloud data centers and scale them up. It is easy to manage applications applying any language or platform. Windows azure realizes two platforms in a full PaaS and IaaS.

Office 365 gives an access to various services and software implemented around the Microsoft Office platform. This service has added hosted versions of different apps such as Office Web Apps or Exchange, etc.

The Apach  Hadoop project offers a convenient way of distributed compute power.

The Apache Hadoop do not use difficult programming models. It is developed to measure from one server to plenty of machines, where local storage is offered by each one. It’s implemented in a form of a library and it is made to outline and manage certain fails.

Dropbox: It is totally free service with the help of which you can upload your photos, documents, and videos anywhere and share them easily.

      Thanks for the article and nice infographics. I have a small start-up and I’m going to use Heroku and I also think about Rackspace. But I’m not sure if any of these platforms would be enough to maintain my project and which of them is better for start-ups?

        I would recommend Heroku for your start up, as it is quite simple and fully maintained system, while Rackspace aquires a lot more work to do, such as configuring databases, web servers, etc.
